Dressed Cat6 patch cords terminated in a network rack

Structured network cabling

Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber backbone for commercial buildings, designed, pulled, terminated, and Fluke-certified to TIA-568. American-made, solid-copper cable only.

What we install

Structured cabling is the copper and fiber backbone that carries everything in your building: voice, data, video, conference rooms, and Wi-Fi. Done right, it disappears: clean pathways above the ceiling, dressed bundles into the rack, and a labeled patch panel a tech can read five years from now. Done wrong, it's the slow network nobody can diagnose.

JDP Communications has pulled more than 2.3 million linear feet of cable in corporate and commercial buildings across Southern California since 2005. We design the run to TIA-568, coordinate rough-in with your general contractor, pull plenum-rated cable through clean pathways, terminate and dress every run, and certify 100% of links with a Fluke tester before handoff.

We install American-made, solid-copper cable only. We never install copper-clad aluminum (CCA) cable. It fails performance testing, overheats under PoE loads, and doesn't meet fire code.

Common questions

Structured cabling FAQ

Should I install Cat6 or Cat6A?

Cat6 handles 1 Gbps at full distance and 10 Gbps up to about 55 meters; Cat6A handles 10 Gbps at the full 100 meters and supports high-power PoE with less heat. For new commercial construction we usually recommend Cat6A. The labor is the same and the cable outlives the tenants.

How many drops does my office need?

A common baseline is two data drops per workstation plus drops for Wi-Fi access points, printers, cameras, and conference rooms. We walk the site and count with you before anything is quoted.

How is structured cabling tested?

Every run is certified with a Fluke tester against the TIA-568 standard: wire map, length, insertion loss, NEXT and return loss. You receive labeled test reports for 100% of installed cables.

Do you work with general contractors during construction?

Yes. We coordinate rough-in with the GC's schedule, install sleeves and pathways before walls close, and return for trim-out and certification. Most of our work is on corporate and commercial construction across Southern California.
